Dr. Connell shares with Fresh Toast how THC and CBD can assist those with overactive bladders
Struggling with that always need to go feeling? That uncontrollable urge to urinate is one of the telltale signs of overactive bladder (OAB).
Normally, receptors between someone’s bladder and their brain signals when a bladder is getting full or is full. If the nerve signals don’t work properly, OAB can result.
OAB affects an estimated 33 million people in the United States. And half of the people with OAB are struggling with a form urinary incontinence, when leakage actually occurs.
Dr. Kathleen Connell shared in the news outlet Fresh Toast how research shows that cannabis is a promising area of treatment for OAB by targeting faulty receptors.
Researchers found that the body has receptors for the cannabinoids CB1 and CB2 in the brain and bladder, as well as in other parts of the body … pointing toward the conclusion that CB1 receptors do have an impact on urination, and their manipulation with cannabinoids from marijuana has promise for treating OAB.”
