About Dr. Brian J. Flynn

Dr. Brian J. Flynn received his Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Rochester, and his Doctorate of Medicine from Temple University. He completed a six-year residency in Urology at Geisinger Medical Center and a one-year fellowship in Female Urology and Reconstructive Urology at Duke University, and is board certified in Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery.

Dr. Flynn has been a faculty member at the University of Colorado School of Medicine since 2002 and currently is the Co-Director of Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery, Reconstructive Urology and associate professor at the University of Colorado.

Dr. Flynn pursued a career in urology and female pelvic medicine because he saw a need for caring physicians in this area of medicine where other doctors often minimize or ignore a patient’s condition. Because of this, Dr. Flynn often sees patients who have had failed treatment with other practices. He takes pride in not only being able to resolve complications, but also repair the original problem.

He individualizes each patient’s treatment based on her needs and goals. His approach to care is in treating patients as he would like to be treated. Dr. Flynn is motivated by the changes he sees in his patients’ lives and being able to provide exceptional outcomes – especially in cases where other doctors have failed or chronic medical conditions exist.

As a national leader in the use of minimally invasive surgical techniques for the treatment of urinary incontinence and reinforced pelvic floor repairs in women, Dr. Flynn has received funding for scientific research in the area of voiding dysfunction. He has also written updates for the American Urologic Association and provided postgraduate instruction on the surgical management of urinary incontinence and mesh complications.

Dr. Flynn’s achievements include receiving awards such as Best Doctor for Executives, Faculty Teaching Award from the Division of Urology at University of Colorado School of Medicine and University of Colorado Hospital Leadership Award. He also was named the Best Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery Doctor by ColoradoBiz Magazine in 2012 and was listed on BestDoctors.com in 2007 and 2008.
